Opportunity for temporary summer employment with the Arlington County Department of Parks and recreation include work as Camp Directors, Assistant Directors, and support staff in preschool camps, elementary camps, teen programs, therapeutic recreation camps, arts camps and evening programs.  Programs are located at recreation centers, schools and parks throughout the County.
Work Hours:  These positions vary in days and hours of work, from a few hours per week to a full fory (40) hour per week schedule.

The Arlington County Police Department is looking for motivated, trustworthy individuals who are at least 20 and one half years age, have at least 60 college credits* and are a U.S. citizen.
As a member of our department you will receive specialized training at one of the most advanced criminal justice academies in the region. You will also receive full pay and benefits during your 20 weeks at the academy and 14 weeks of field training. Additional training and career development opportunities are available throughout your career.
                              *Substitution to the educational requirement: 
Prior law enforcement experience
– One year post law enforcement academy experience with a recognized local, state or federal law enforcement agency.
Prior military experience - Two-year continuous active duty experience with the United States Military and have, or are eligible to receive, an ‘honorable discharge’. (Candidates tested before discharge will be required to present an ‘honorable discharge’ before hire.)
Position Includes: 

  1. Starting salary of $48,006.40
  2. Paid overtime at a rate of time and ½
  3. Two health plans to choose from at low rates
  4. Eligible for step increases after 1 year of service
  5. Upgraded to Police Officer II after graduating from the academy
  6. Eligible for promotion to supervisory level after 5 years
  7. Fixed shift w/rotating days off schedule for uniformed patrol
  8. Uniforms & equipment are furnished by the department
  9. 25 year retirement, no age limit
  10. County pays % of health insurance premium for retirees w/25 years of service
  11. Deferred Retirement Option Program (DROP)
